Beach features and services <\/h2>\n\n
The beach is 3.5 km long and is divided into two areas: Platja Gran<\/strong>, with beach bars, showers, sun loungers, toilets and a tourist information point, and Platja del Grau<\/strong>, much more natural, with dunes and very little infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n There is parking, but it\u2019s paid in high season, so if you arrive late and it\u2019s summer, you\u2019ll have to walk quite a bit to reach it\u2014or use the car park, which is quite small, by the way.<\/p>\n\n And now for the important part: what the beach is like. It has fine sand in a deep golden colour, with around 70 metres of width down to the shoreline and, as you\u2019ll know, in the Mediterranean there\u2019s hardly any tidal rise and fall, so that space for laying down your towel will stay \u2014more or less\u2014 the same.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n The water quality is certified by the Catalan Water Agency, and the waves are usually quite lively\u2014something surfers surf<\/em> lovers appreciate, as do those who want a bit of movement while swimming.<\/p>\n\n What doesn\u2019t it have? Well, there\u2019s no seafront promenade<\/strong>, but instead there are wooden walkways that cross the dunes; a much nicer solution, and far more respectful of the surroundings, than the typical concrete promenade. <\/p>\n\n The easterly wind and the tramontana, which give this coast its character, make Pals Beach a go-to spot for <\/strong>windsurfing<\/em><\/strong>, <\/strong>kitesurfing<\/em><\/strong> and <\/strong>surfing<\/em><\/strong>. If you do any of these, you should know the conditions here aren\u2019t just good\u2014they\u2019re fantastic! <\/p>\n\n There are also companies in the area that offer equipment hire for kayaking<\/em><\/strong> and <\/strong>paddleboarding<\/em><\/strong>. <\/strong>And, of course, it\u2019s perfectly fine to come with the sole idea of laying your towel on the sand. That\u2019s up to you. <\/p>\n\n Oh! And out of the water, in the surrounding area, you\u2019ll come across several hiking routes \u2014which you can also do by bike\u2014 through the Montgr\u00ed Natural Park, and a golf course \u2014the first ever on the Costa Brava\u2014 that winds its way between dunes and pine trees. <\/p>\n\n By car from Barcelona, you can take the AP-7 motorway towards Girona<\/strong> and exit at junction 6. From there, continue on the C-66 towards La Bisbal d\u2019Empord\u00e0 and follow the signs to Pals<\/strong>; after that, it\u2019s straightforward. <\/p>\n\n You can also get there by bus with Moventis \u2014formerly Sarfa\u2014 which connects Barcelona and Girona with Pals Beach. The train doesn\u2019t reach Pals, but there\u2019s a nearby station called Fla\u00e7\u00e0, from where you\u2019ll only need a taxi or a bus to get to the beach. <\/p>\n\n The best option?
