STAY IN L'ESCALA
ADVANTAGES OF VACATION RENTALS
There are places to enjoy and places to feel. In L'Escala, well-being begins when you set the pace: from that first quiet coffee in a kitchen that feels like your own, to the freedom to return from Empúries beach without looking at the clock.
While hotels offer you a stay under their rules, choosing a vacation rental in L'Escala means betting on authenticity. It is having a private terrace where the Mediterranean breeze is the only protagonist and enjoying stays with character that allow you to connect with the seafaring spirit of the town. It is ceasing to be a client to become an inhabitant of the Costa Brava.
What's the point of squeezing into a room if you can open the doors of an entire house with a pool by the sea?

1. Portitxol Beach (Platja del Portitxol)
One of the most photogenic beaches in the area, thanks to its iconic rock formation and stone arch. Located right next to the Empúries Archaeology Museum, it offers very calm, shallow waters framed by pine trees that reach almost to the sand. It serves as the starting point for the promenade connecting the town with Sant Martí.
2. Muscleres Beach (Platja de les Muscleres)
Situated directly in front of the ancient walls of the Greek and Roman cities. This is a very wide beach with fine sand, perfect for those seeking comfort and space even during the high season. Its preserved natural surroundings and crystal-clear waters make it a local favourite for spending the entire day.
3. Sant Martí Beach (Platja de Sant Martí)
Located at the foot of the picturesque medieval village of Sant Martí d'Empúries, this beach perfectly blends history with leisure. It is ideal for combining a swim with local gastronomy, as there is a wide range of quality terraces and restaurants just a few metres from the sand.
4. La Platja (Platja de les Barques)
Set in the heart of the old town, this beach is the epicentre of local life. What makes it unique is that it still preserves traditional wooden boats resting on the sand. It is the perfect place to experience the authentic maritime essence of L’Escala while being close to the town centre's cafés and shops.
5. Riells Beach (Platja de Riells)
Renowned as the most family-friendly beach in the municipality due to its large size and extremely shallow waters; you have to walk quite far out before it gets deep. It is bordered by a lively promenade dedicated to The Little Prince, packed with amenities, shops, and play areas for children.
1. Passeig d’Empúries
This is the most iconic spot to watch the sun dip behind the Pyrenees. The pedestrian path offers a privileged view of the entire Gulf of Roses, bathed in reddish hues at the end of the day.

3. La Platja (Old Town)
Offers a sunset with a charming urban and maritime feel. The twilight light highlights the traditional wooden boats on the sand and the white facades of the old town, creating a serene atmosphere with beautiful coastal views.
4. The Harbour (La Clota)
An excellent place to watch the sun setting through the masts of the sailing boats. It offers a different, peaceful scene, shaped by the sight of vessels returning to the harbour after a day at sea.
5. Montgó Tower (Torre de Montgó)
As the highest point in the area, it provides a 360-degree sunset experience. From here, you can overlook both the Empordà plains and the vastness of the Mediterranean.
